About the role
Serving a delicious and affordable lunch each day is an integral part of our Community Wellbeing Centre. We’re looking to create a café-style vibe in our centre that allows anyone from the community to drop in and get a quality meal, and then get involved in the hustle and bustle of the centre that happens around it.
You’ll need to be a confident cook, who can work within a budget and serve up quality food to serve around 20-30 people. (If you need a sous-chef, there’s usually some staff, session volunteers or community members who are happy to help out). As with all our roles, alignment with our values and openness to learning is a must.
We’d be looking for to commit to a regular day (or days) for 4-6 months. We serve lunch Monday-Friday from 12.30pm-1.30pm and on Thursday evenings at about 6.30pm – so you’d likely be starting a few hours before this time to give you plenty of time for buying and preparing the food (we’ll be paying of course!) .
Support and Learning
You’ll receive support from our Community Lead and Volunteer Coordinator to get you cooking up a storm. As with all our volunteer opportunities, you’ll also have access to a range of free, formal training opportunities including Mental Health First Aid, The Care Certificate and First Aid.
How to apply
To apply, please click on the link below. Upon receiving your application you’ll be asked to attend a Selection Day. The Selection Day is a full day, held every month on a Saturday where you’ll have the opportunity to find out about who we are, what work we do here at Likewise, and what volunteering with us might look like.
