About the role
Serving a delicious and affordable lunch each day is an integral part of our Community Wellbeing Centre. We’re looking to create a café-style vibe in our centre that allows anyone from the community to drop in and get a quality meal, and then get involved in the hustle and bustle of the centre that happens around it.
You’ll need to be a confident cook, who can work within a budget and serve up quality food to serve around 20-30 people. (If you need a sous-chef, there’s usually some staff, session volunteers or community members who are happy to help out). As with all our roles, alignment with our values and openness to learning is a must.
We’d be looking for to commit to a regular day (or days) for 4-6 months. We serve lunch Monday-Friday from 12.30pm-1.30pm and on Thursday evenings at about 6.30pm – so you’d likely be starting a few hours before this time to give you plenty of time for buying and preparing the food (we’ll be paying of course!) .
Support and Learning
You’ll receive support from our Community Lead and Volunteer Coordinator to get you cooking up a storm. As with all our volunteer opportunities, you’ll also have access to a range of free, formal training opportunities including Mental Health First Aid, The Care Certificate and First Aid.
